#48 Iran: Shirazi salad

Shiraz is the fifth most populous city in Iran and it has this AMAZING SALAD named after it!!!! You might have noticed that I LOVE SALADS (click on the "salad" label on the right for a small sampling) and I seriously thought all of these Middle Eastern salad dishes would run together but EACH ONE CONTINUES TO UNIQUELY STICK OUT and be amazing!

The key to this one is to let it "sit" for a while to let the flavors incorporate. It really does taste like summer. Or, the desert. Which makes sense, as it is from Iran. It has so many similar ingredients to other salads I have tried, but, it tastes different! This recipe is derived from many google searches. All of the recipes are extremely similar in ingredients.

Shirazi Salad

This serves 1-2 people. Double if you want to share!

Ingredients:

1 tomato, chopped
1/2 cucumber, chopped
3 green onions, sliced
1/2 of a jalapeno, minced
1 very small garlic clove, minced
3 Tablespoons fresh mint, minced
juice from 1/2 a lime
zest from 1/2 a lime
sprinkle of salt

Directions:

Combine all. Let sit for 5-10 minutes before enjoying. That is all.
